History of the Community Center
Our Community Center has been a core part of the fabric of Lander for over 90 years. It weaves together different segments of our city and fosters many of our lifelong friendships and memories. Festivals, weddings, reunions and funerals all have a place in our history. Stories of poker games, rat derbies, whiskey auctions, and tall tales from the big hunt are still alive for all of us. The stories from our past are the foundation for our future.
In 2012, an electrical fire destroyed the beloved Lander Community Center – a treasured piece of Lander’s history and the heart of the community. Out of this tragedy came an opportunity to build a new facility big enough to host events in Lander that were previously not possible. The possibilities for new uses are boundless and open to the imagination.
